Ingram Digital and Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers Introduce Exclusive e-Book Collection:

Jan 28, 2009

Ingram Digital, an Ingram Content company focused on solutions for digital content management, distribution and promotion, now offers a premier e-book collection branded by the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP), a prestigious international trade association comprising journal publishers, book publishers, learned societies and professional bodies, database publishers, university presses and intergovernmental organizations.

The ALPSP eBook Collection (AeBC) consists of over 1,200 titles contributed by specialist society, academic and university press publishers. Many titles have not previously been available in digital format. The collection’s 1,200 titles cover 11 subject areas including education, law, medicine, political science and technology. Institutions may choose the entire core offering or create a custom package of various sub-collections. The AeBC is available as a one-time purchase, with multi-user access delivered exclusively through MyiLibraryTM, Ingram Digital’s next-generation e-content aggregation platform.

“The ALPSP eBook Collection delivers excellent value for libraries by offering perpetual, multi-user access to front-list content from prestigious not-for-profit publishers” said Nick Evans, COO of ALPSP. “ALPSP and Ingram Digital will continue to add value for AeBC users by enhancing the collection’s subject-specific sets with additional titles from today’s leading publishers.”

The AeBC is available to libraries and other institutions through the extensive network of MyiLibrary distribution partners, which include Swets, the current provider of the ALPSP Learned Journals Collection, Coutts Information Services and ProQuest. The AeBC also may be enhanced with any of the 175,000 additional titles already available for purchase through MyiLibrary. With over 5,000 new titles added every month, MyiLibrary is the fastest-growing and most comprehensive online e-content platform on the market today.

“Ingram Digital is committed to providing innovative offerings to the library market, and this collection meets libraries’ growing demand for subject-specific, scholarly and professional e-book collections,” commented Rich Rosy, VP and GM for Ingram Digital’s Institutional Solutions. “This initiative will also enable trade and academic publishers to reach new customers with a very appealing, competitive multi-title offering.”

Publishers participating in the ALPSP eBook Collection will also benefit from access to Ingram Digital’s full range of content solutions including the MyiLibrary platform for individual e-book sales, the CoreSource digital asset management platform and print-on-demand services from Lightning Source.

The AeBC is not available through any other aggregator or platform.
